FIRST ASSIGNMENT:
Now that you have conducted the interview of a criminal justicecommand level supervisor, it is time to complete and submit yourinterview report.
As a reminder, your Interview Report should contain the following:
- Your efforts at obtaining an interview
- The details of the person and place where you went for the interview
- A summary of the actual interview
- The report should provide a summary of the main points thesupervisor or manager made about your chosen policy issue during theinterview.
- Include as many quotations from the interview as possible.
- The name of the organization
- The issue that you addressed
- The supervisor’s name and rank

Once you have submitted your Interview Report, youshould immediately begin the research for your policy paper. As areminder, the next steps of your course project include the completionof your Paper Outline and the Policy Paper. |

For this phase of the course project, you will submit your Policy Paper Outline. Your outline should include the following items:
- Title of your policy
- Policy number
- Date policy takes effect
- Responsible office or individual
- Policy statement: 2-3 sentences outlining the policy for theemployee decision area under scrutiny by you and the supervisor youinterviewed. (This is basically the thesis of your outline and policy paper.)
- Reason for policy
- Brief introduction
- Background information from interview and other sources. (Stories, statistics, facts, etc.)
- State a minimum of three reasons for policy
- First reason with supporting details
- Second reason with supporting details
- Third reason with supporting details
- Conclusion(Include a short paragraph conclusion)
- Persons affected by policy
- Related information – ideas for implementing policy, other similar policies, references to other research about this issue.
- Contacts – Individual you interviewed, other contact ideas from research.
Changes in the Outline – As in any researchexploration, you may need to adjust some of the supporting details ofyour outline as you advance in your research. However, your goal thisweek is to develop an outline that is as complete as possible. Thisoutline will serve as a guide for you as you complete your paper.
