Review of CJUS650

In all our assignments we had a total of 5 units that included DB’s and IP” s and one group project Thru the DB’s we given a chance write and post ours then read and respond to others. The Professor also was able to read and respond to anything he wanted. Thru Ip’s we had to do were posted to the Professor Uda and them he would grade them. Total of 5 units that included DB and IP and one group project.

Most compelling topics this course

Well to me all of the topics were compelling because they seemed very demanding the first few were a little easier. Unit 1 DB was about Introducing ourselves to our fellow classmates and Professor Uda seemed easy enough because it at the beginning and when other work is not involved. We were able to include any information we felt was pertinent leading from our background all the way up to now. Unit 1 DB which was about contrasting and comparing the legal definitions of hazards and threats and what they mean to us and our state of residence. Unit 1 IP we had to prepare and Informational paper as an action officer that would be shared with other Officers including a couple areas that are controversial and if we supported it or the lack of it. to include Professors Uda white pages and all of the files he sent us followed to the T.

The next few units seemed to be a little harder but still able to get thru Unit 2 DB where we several Acts such as the Patriot Act or the HAS and what they mean along with the content being examined. We also had to discuss areas that might be contradictory and have a jurisdictional overlap or conflict within the law. Unit 2 IP we had to prepare and Informational paper as an action officer that would be shared with other Officers including a couple areas that are controversial and if we supported it or the lack of it . Unit 3 DB we had to talk about 2 DHS directorates their missions and any issues of jurisdiction overlaps and if they are conflicting in and analysis. Unit 3 IP we had to develop another Informational Paper that identifies an agency or directorate of the DHS including their goals, objectives, metrics, missions and jurisdictions, Unit 4 DB is Key Assignment Outline creations to include Professors Uda white pages and all of the files he sent us followed to the T.

Finally, the last few were a bit intimidating to me but still stuck with them. Unit 4 IP Key Assignment Draft we had to prepare Decision support paper as an action officer that would be shared with other Officers including a couple areas that are controversial and if we supported it or the lack of it. Unit 5 DB of Review and reflection of CJUS650 . Unit 5 IP we had to do a PowerPoint briefing using our Unit 3 and Unit 4 papers. The power point must contain specific things such as the necessary slides and information then post to small group area. Unit 5 Group portion include a final report to the Director of the DHS Management Directorate with these recommendations.

Discussions helped understanding subject matter

The discussion boards did help to make sure we understood the subject manner by reading and responding to other classmates’ comments and assignments. I know that if mine is way off from theirs then I probably did not quite grasp it.

Anything still unclear or unclarified

Well as you well know that we can never stop learning in this world. There is nothing that needs to be clarified or that is unclear to me

Approaches yielding additional valuable information

Approaches yielding additional valuable information for me would be the group project. I thought contacting everyone at the beginning was a good idea. I had not heard from anyone at this point and thought it would help things. At the beginning and through the weeks I tried to communicate with everybody. Although some our group communicated back it was hard because of the ones who didn’t and more so made it very hard to project out the group project. Which is not fair to everyone in the group trying to do the right thing. The end result is even when these situations arise you still have to treat people the right way especially those who tried to keep everything going, Yes, it is a group project but only those who helped get the project done shall have their names for credit. But always moving forward in a professional way too will allow for the project to be completed.

Recommendations

Develop a better plan as a group when working together as a group. When something happens beyond our control like by other actions always try to keep moving forward.

Conclusion

Always remember when you can to only go as fast as the slowest person or help that person become faster.
